Start your hike at Gavea Rock or Pedra da Gávea, standing 842 meters (2,763 feet) above Rio de Janeiro. A hotel pickup takes you to the trailhead, where a 2.5-hour hike begins through the Atlantic Forest to the peak.
The last part of the hike includes a 15-meter (49-foot) rock climb and trails along cliff edges, all of which are navigated safely.
At the top, spend 30–40 minutes viewing Rio’s landmarks like Tijuca Forest, Christ the Redeemer, São Conrado Beach, Rocinha favela, and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. Descend the same trail back and enjoy a comfortable ride back to your hotel.
